I'd miss the two piece boot if I didn't have it.
As I'm pretty forgetful, being able to open the upper part has meant I've not had to get back in and move the car away from the garage door after parking it if I need to getting something out of the boot! 
I do like the style of the silver strip though - its far from awful  2016 VW Golf GTD DSG
