I have a range rover sport tdv8 and when you rev it it squeals like a belt slipping but it's coming from the drivers side back near the bulkhead any ideas

Hello.

Thank god it was the Turbo and not the exhaust manfold gasket.

They are saying that the manifold wants replacing too

I have just had my exhaust manifold gaskets done and it's a body off job on the TDV8

Saw this on your other thread, wouldn't it be easier to get the engine out ?

I was going to say im sure technically to remove the engine you need to remove the body - however, i was looking at the engine out of a d4 with the body on so its possible - im not sure which is easier...some of it may be down to the equipment you have.

If you cant lift the body off then you are screwed  Mike

They dont think its the turbo,but sounds like exhaust gasket maybe ,, its so minor they advised to leave it for now


If the turbo was to go down they quoted me //

£ 1000 to take body off+ on

£ 400 Recon my turbo

£ 250 Labour

Total £1650

£1k to take the body off and replace it sounds a bit steep. How much are these guys charging per hour? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I have been seeing prices of 3-4k for a turbo job so thought that seemed a bargain

Not a bad price considering main dealers charge 5k, labour along is 2k!
Not 100% sure but think the turbos are Garret ones and you should be able to get hold of refurbished ones
