I'm in process of buying a secondhand Sport from a dealer and asked them to check and tell me what warranty work had been done on the car.

I also asked Land Rover's Customer Service the same question because the selling dealer was not the original supplier who was Guy Salmon's.

Customer Service say they will not give me the record of warranty on this car (which we know they have) - seems a strange way to help dealers and customers have a open discussion.

I believe the JLR Customer Service Director is a Bill Fennell - anybody have any contact details - like email?

The dealer can get a printout for oyu!

Print out is headed "Direct Dealer Warranty - Vehicle Details"

If they want the sale they should show you.

They only need the registration and they get the info. Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

Thanks for that - it seemed such a simple request and a wise thing to do.

As you I thought the same and that a dealer could pull the report off the system - but the Business Manager at the dealership claimed it wasn't on a database (???). I told JLR Customer Service I'd had 10 Range Rovers (+9 Jags) and could they help a 'loyal' customer - after 3 days their person said she wouldn't provide it !!

Perhaps the list of warranty work is so long they don't want to print it out and want to help save the planet and all that What else are they trying to hide I'd walk away.

A lesson in making a mountain from a molehill. Certainly makes you wonder - I've given them 48 hours and I'm supposedly collecting and paying the balance on Monday next week. I've emailed Bill Fennell the Customer Services Director and repeated the request and to suggest withholding this type of info. is just plain silly.

The dealer has a £500 deposit from me, but I did say I wanted this info. on the test drive and have kept them fully in the JLR comms. loop.


The car is in very good nick and drove well so I'd like to complete the deal unless the records show it's a crock of S--t its going to be a bit messy walking away because of cherished number transfer stuff but the £500 deposit could mean "the first loss is the best one" !!

Remember they are doing you a favour talking to you and showing you one of their cars

Who do these stealers think they are - I walk away now if I am not treated like a valued customer - hence SWMBO got a new mini in May instead of a FL2 when they couldn't be bothered to return my calls

I said I'd give the dealer 48hrs so I will honour that before making them public.

Dan from Duckworths (Site sponsors) has come up trumps within about 30 mins and emailed me a full list and vehicle spec. We still need to track the program and parts code numebr mean in lay terms but just shows it can be done when some who gives a dam promises.
