Loads of D3s and a couple or RRSs

Been on a 200 mile round trip, and saw 3 Sports, and 11 D3s. D3s are definetly getting more common! Hello to you if you were in mid to north Wales today! (BTW, 2 of the sports were Java, and 1 Bonatti) 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

Same here in central Scotland. D3s were as rare as rocking horse poo here until just a few months ago when the numbers seemed to jump suddenly.

Not so the RRS -- lots of them on the roads ever since the launch day. Can't say I'm surprised really -- the RRS is in a class of its own at the moment and I suppose it helps that it doesn't look like an enormous brick on wheels Rolling Eyes Laughing Bill

I'm surprised about there being loads of Sports there. I hardly see any! I would say I probably see about one a week, and thats usually the same one! 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

I see most of them in Edinburgh -- I work there.

FFRRs are all over the place in Edinburgh. The RRS is not nearly as numerous as FFRR but there's still a fair number of them about. Had seen only two or three (seriously!!) D3s in Edinburgh until somewhere between four and six months ago when all of a sudden there was a lot more of them. Bill

Andy,

There are quite a few round Bridgnorth area - its just the law of averages though I think as nearly 1 in 3 cars are 4x4's here anyway - so figures that the RRS numbers are more common

Just looking through some photos I took today, and realised I only saw 2 Sports, the black one I saw once in Bala, and then saw it again 30 miles later in Barmouth, thats what I call a coincidence! 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

Guys I’m sort of surprised by your opinions as do you actually own a RRS or D3?

Owners of each have their own reasons for such. As you can see we have most of the LR portfolio and for info the only one that wont feature in the line up is the RRS, its not because any detrimental reasons as I said each owner is entitled to there reasoning behind ownership my is simply at this point in time the RRS does not fit my purpose and doubt that it will. The Presence factor is provided by the FFRR the Utilitarian function is covered by the 90, The off road pursuits are covered by the D3 so there is no room for the RRS as all of my vehicular requirements are covered even that I don’t personally like the RRS I wont dis it I vote with my wallet

Incidentally a new FFRR TDV8 is on order and the 90 is about to be replaced by 110 twin cab. Comments like “brick shape” “common” are quite insulting to their respective owners and we all get enough bad press/comments from the antis so please don’t add to it from an in-house source

I'm sure no one meant to offend anyone here. The comment about the brick on wheels, well, you've got to admit, the RRS is definetly more stream lined then the D3, not that that makes the D3 a bad car. Anyway, I'm sure it was meant as a joke. Underneath the RRS and D3 are both the same car, and are both brilliant in different ways.

BTW- I've been looking through your gallery on D3, you have an awesome drive Cool 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

one thing I have learnt from years on various car forums, is dont take posts too seriously - some people tend to use smilies (which help) others dont (which sometimes can be confusing) however most seemingly nasty comments are 99% of the time, meant in jest - IMHO

Andy - RRS streamlined? Laughing Laughing nice one

Laughing Laughing

That's better, it's Saturday morning, I should still be in bed Laughing

Ken, what I'm trying to say is that the D3 is more practical, but on the RRS the windscreen slopes a bit more Laughing 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

They are your opinions that’s fine. The salient point is please keep the negativity (mocking or not) away from the forums. There are plenty of people out there attacking the 4x4 community we need to stick together. I am sick of trying to defend why I drive a 4x4 and now it’s getting tiresome defending my model choice to a community that should be supportive of the entire LR portfolio. Each person on this & other forums have made their own informed choice of vehicle support them don’t mock them as that’s what the antis really want

Oh the reason for my foul mood this morning at 2am I caught some #$$£*! trying to slash my tyres and who got in trouble well it wasn’t the #$$£*! It was me for using excessive persuasive force to stop the #$$£*
