350z is a potential option, but really think I need something that can fit our twins in the back on rare occasions.

Great cars if you can stretch your budget! Otherwise, a Golf is always a safe bet Thumbs Up

Agreed. I need to try and be good with my budget though, I once went out to look at a Disco 3 and came home with a RRS for 10k over my budget! Shocked

Cant go wrong with MK5 golf GTI I've had plenty over the years, 80k+ miles u need to look out for coil packs, MAF sensors and the oil picks up getting blocked.

There is plenty available at the 5/6k price mark , spend a few nights on auto trader ull find something, Ill see whats available form the trade network if you want. I got a nice 330ci 57 plate with 31k on it for a mate a few weeks back for 7100 quid lot of car for the money, also picked up a 04 Porsche Cayenne 4.5s (granted its mega thirsty on fuel) for 6900 it did have 90k on it right enough Thumbs Up

The Alfa's are stupidly expensive to service (even by LR standards)

My mate got "given" one (51 plate) by his parents..

He was very happy until it needed it's next service (60k but at the time 8 years old) and it needed a large service costing a tad under £1200... but by the time they finished with him he's shelled out £1600 Shocked Shocked

He "gave it away" to he mate a year later Laughing RRS gone

Just couldn't do it I'm afraid.

When they first "came out" we looked at a 500 for the wife. I was really against it so she asked the dealer if men bought them, to which he replied.... " a certain type of man".

Not for me Shocked

My wife wanted a change for her mini (put that on your list, plenty in your price range, and loads of space for a big lad in the front), she wanted a 500 with pink flowers down the side, since she uses the RRS when it snows for her commute, I didn't want to drive anything that would question my sexuality, so came home with an Abarth Twisted Evil great cars for the money!

I had a 51 plate 156 Selespeed which was an absolute nightmare (purely due to the awful gearbox) but when everything worked you forgot all the pain and drove around with a big grin on your face.

They are costly, mainly as they hold no parts over here so everything has to be imported from Italy.
