Iain at finer detailing is a litle closer to the Stockport dealer (oldham) and from what I have seen his work is also very good

http://www.finerdetails.co.uk/

Sound like he does work for a LR dealer also if you read his evoque blog Thumbs Up

Hi guys, yes bradders is correct tony spears detailed my new motor and is very good http://www.autoshinespecialistvaleting.co.uk/ but he might be a bit too far out for you Rudskibaliblu, i think jonny fresh also used and still used finer details and i beleive he has recommended them on here before, who ever you use don't let your dealer touch it at all. Even though my dealer didn't touch mine it still had a few marks on the bodywork from factory. I may be wrong but i think Tony once told me that he trained one of the guys that runs finer detail.

Thanks Ady
was it the new car detail you got or a full paint correction? Seems a bit much getting the full monty but without getting to see the car first I won't be able to tell. Biggest problem will be keeping on top of it once its done.

Thanks again Thumbs Up Now gone Orkney grey SDV6 HSE with body style kit contrast stitch ebony leather, privacy, black piano, 22" Lowenharts for summer, 20" with Leon LTZ for winter.

It was a new car detail, who ever details your car ask them for a few tips on how to wash and dry your car thats where a lot of the marks come from, its a minefield out there knowing which products to use and how to use them, pay a visit to http://www.detailingworld.com/forum/index.php there are some very good tips and products to use and how to use them, just make sure you have a few hours spare to read them all. Thumbs Up

Rudski,
As a starter for 10, to minimise the scratches you can inflict when washing the car you'll need:

2 x buckets - any will do, preferably quite deep.
Wash mitt - microfiber or lambs wool (get yourself a couple of these)
Decent shampoo - something like Dodo Juice Born to be Mild without a load of waxes in it.
Drying Towels - not chamois'. Get a couple of these.

Fill one bucket up with plain water, the other with water/shampoo mix. Dip mitt in shampoo mix, wipe a section of the car, then rinse the mitt in the plain water bucket. You'll be amazed at the crap that builds up in the plain water bucket at the end.

Optional...
Jet Spray - fantastic for getting most of the grit and dirt off the car before you even touch it with a mitt. Great for the arches and under the car too.

Even more Optional....
Snow Foam Gun - varying opinions on this. I have one and use it all the time. You can use a shampoo solution in it, just to allow the dirt to be 'soaked' before you jet spray off.

You'll never stop all the scrathes from washing, but if you have at least the first list, you'll go a long way to keeping your freshly detailed car that way for longer.
Happy to point you in the direction of suppliers if you need any help. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Cheers guys

I use a karcher pressure wash, got the snow foam, use the 2 bucket method With MIT and waxed with colly but still seam to have swirl marks so have been over with swirl x. This has helped but not as good as I would have liked but don't have the bottle to use a DA machine. Unfortunately after I do all that 2 minutes down our lonning and it's either covered in dust or cow crap. Big Cry

Time to put the house on the market Ive got to get my priorities right here, and as the misses is always saying, I think more of the car as I do her maybe she's right Laughing Now gone Orkney grey SDV6 HSE with body style kit contrast stitch ebony leather, privacy, black piano, 22" Lowenharts for summer, 20" with Leon LTZ for winter.

Apologies, didn't realise you were already way down the slippery slope of detailing. Embarassed Thumbs Up
Mastering a DA isn't a dark art, exercise a bit of common sense and you'd be fine Thumbs Up

Try something like GTechniq's P1 polish, very good by hand and fantastic on a DA. Will be easier to use than Swirl X. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Not full blown OCD yet but getting there Laughing

I have looked on the detailing world website and have to admit if I didn't live up this lane then don't think it would be long to here the words "it's me or that car"

Think I'll give a few new products a go when the car arrives so no doubt I'll be back for some more top info
