Silvercross pram?

So 10,000 miles covered and a trip to Cardiff and back on business. All fine on the way down, heading back on the M5 and we decide to make a stop for lunch. As I pull into the car park the suspension failure warning comes up on the dash and the car starts bouncing like a silver cross pram Shocked

Return to car after lunch, all normal until M42 when it goes again. Pull over switch off, wait car then says suspension raising slowly (like i don't already know that). Finally goes again big style and I limp the last 10miles home in silvercross mode as I'm now calling it (the ride would've been comical if I wasn't so f Censored ing angry.

LR assist come out the next day and what do you know all is normal. He's got error messages for all four corners and tells me that it could be moisture in the sensors, which then freezes in the cold wiping the sensors out and dropping the car into pram mode.

Anyone else experienced this Question or is it just a LR assist guy left scratching his head and coming up with a possible explanation Question to be fair to him he did seem very thorough in his approach to the vehicle Thumbs Up Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

Had exactly the same problem it's almost certainly a leaky suspension exhaust valve. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

But then did the car return completely to normal, even after another test run?

Wouldn't this be repetitive or ongoing if something was leaking Question i mean wouldn't it get progressively worse Question Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

On mine it was only a slight leak so the pump ran to keep it at normal height for about 10 minutes but it then overheated and was shut down, suspension went down.
I stopped as it was kangarooing and after about 10 minutes tried again, suspension pumped up and the cycle was repeated, did this all the way home from the Scottish Borders to Derbyshire. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

The thing that really made me doubt what he was saying was that it wasn't a particularly cold day, actually it was quite mild (in the recent scheme of things) and the vehicle had already covered 200 to 300 miles on that journey and so everything should've been pretty warm.

Thanks Chris I'll keep an eye and see if it recurs, if so it's off to the dealers Thumbs Up Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

Or could it be this? - see page 4 of this Service Bulletin (Q079)

"Customers complain of warning light illumination, noticeable poor system performance and ultimately the air suspension system becomes inoperative, eventually resulting in the vehicle lowering on to the bump stops due to loss of system pressure."

Apparently caused by water/salt getting into the height sensor casings. Check the VIN to see if your car is in the affected range LS144333 – LS215577 if so there should have been a recall. Even if not it might still be the cause.

Hope this helps.

Outstanding Bob Ty Bow down

Will check the VIN and see if she's affected was what the LR assist guy first said before he lost me with the cold angle.

He said the moisture and salt follows the wiring into the sensors Shocked Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

Spoken to the dealer (a couple actually) and they tell me that my car has no outstanding issues with it on thier system - in other words it was outside the recall batch that would have had the new sensors fitted.

Their advice seems to be.....

.....wait for it to go wrong again and then we'll take a look at it Shocked

it seems I have to be stranded in pram mode to get anything done....

any ideas guys / gals Question Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

Update..

Spoke to LR customer services today and had one of those amazingly frustrating circular conversation you sometimes have with people who seem to be on robotic mode....

" I have a problem with my car (description of problem) and LR assist have attended and the fault seems to have now rectified itself and the technician can't seem to get it to fault again"

"that's good sir when the problem occurs again please call LR assist"

"can we not be a little more proactive than that and not wait until I'm stranded in the middle of nowhere waiting to be recovered"

"but your car is rectified sir and has no fault with it, it's now operating normally"

"yes I realise that but don't you guys want to recommend it goes in and is looked at"

"but there's nothing to look at sir it's operating normally"

LR customer services seem to have never encountered like an intermittent fault before is all i can assume...... Shocked

Or am I right to think that they see the car displaying total suspension failure as just one of those things that might happen along the way to you as a customer? Effectively something not out of the ordinary?

Either of the above options don't seem very palatable for us as customers Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?
