Its twice the car the Golf is and they are still managing to hold thier money well unlike the MK5 GTI at the moment which is suffering as a result of the MK6 coming out a few years ago, positive side there are a few bargains to be had on MK5's as a result.

2003 986 Boxster S, night and day different from the 2.7 (in my opinion) and for £10k they are an absolute bargain. Bought one back in March for a bit of summer fun and ended up keeping it as the Mrs loves it so much. Engines are bulletproof and surprisingly decent load space with front and rear boots. (we spent 3 weeks camping around Italy without an issue and my other half definitely does not travel light!) Had an E46 M3 a few years back and although a fantastic car was very expensive to keep.

Buy a car for the school run. Buy a Skoda Octavia estate. Swallow kids and all of the associated "stuff" with ease. And will give decent mileage returns too. You might find a vRS which is basically the Golf GTi in disguise. That way you can enjoy the RRS every day! Here you go: http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classif...her/277682 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

1.4 petrol GT is pretty good car, although u need to get the newer mk5 TSI, its a std 140 BHP but with a remap can jump up to 200BHP which is the same as a std GTI Diesel GT's are in abundance, sport models and the newer Diesel engine variety are the ones to go for.

Fair enough. We have the 105bhp 1.9 TDi estate. Sure, it's no sports car (but more fun than the Mk4 Golf we had) but it's a good load lugger and gives excellent mpg returns. And it's cheaper than the VW or Audi equivalent for the same bit of kit (except the badge of course). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

the 2nd car is needed, so there is a car at home for ferrying the kids to school etc while I have one at work. I can get a car for the school run, or a car to commute in. Preference is for the commuting car so the bigger car is available for the kids.
