2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

Replacing the central air valve

After Purchasing the IITool from Gap diagnostics ive been wanting to have a play with the suspension
Firstly using the IITool fully deflate (and disengage) the whole air suspension and jack up the rear left corner of the RRS and support.
The part replaced is RVH000046 as below

If purchasing new it will have a new pressure sensor already fitted. (large silver nut with plug on) If not already on it will need screwing on to 5Nm. no thread lock as should include rubber ring. (be very careful not to overtighten as will ruen the air valve)
Remove the compressor cover ( two bolts to the chasis and one on the base Torque 9Nm) 5 clips also need removing
once the cover is off should look like this

Move the wiring from infront of the valve, disconnect the plug to the pressure sensor and to the valve. Then push the whole valve upwards so it comes off its brackets.
Gently start removing the Voss connectors. once loose remove the collett from the pipe by wedging a small screwdriver to widen the collett in order not to score the plastic piping. (Do NOT try to open with fingers as usually it will snap)

After removal clean all pipework and start installing new valve.
Place voss connector over valve and again use a small screwdriver to prize open the collett so it passes freely over the plastic tubing, ensuring the chamfered end of the collett is facing the voss connector.
Fit all the pipework back in the correct position and tighten the voss connectors to 2.5Nm. After advice from landrover and looking at the design of the connectors, no thread sealant is requires. It also may damage the fine plastic thread of the valve body, if removal is needed at a later date.
insert the two plugs, then locate the valve back on its bracket.
remove struts and lower car back to the ground, start engine and raise the car to off road height, should take around 5 minutes. Support the vehicle with axle stands again (to be on the safe side) and check for leaks, if all ok replace the compressor cover using a mild thread lock on the bolts 9Nm

Not sure I'd attempt that but thanks for the detailed post with the useful bits of info e.g. how to remove breakable pieces safely

Having said that, I am quite tempted by the IIDTool. Looks like it could be a useful addition to the toolbox... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It is very easy to replace, especially when you deflate/switch off the air suspension.
I would definately recomend the IIDtool, good bit of kit, and only the size of a matchbox.
