Sobering 'cloned vehicle' story - beware!

Thought it worth bringing to the attention of everyone here a sobering story from one of the Disco 3 members who bought a second hand Discovery, only to find that it had been stolen and cloned.

He'd essentially done everything right, checked the VIN numbers, had an HPI check etc, but still got caught out ... and lost everything.

The cars we drive and buy are prime targets for the lowlife cloners - so if you're thinking of buying a secondhand car from anyone other than someone you already know, or a reputable dealer - it would be worth reading this first:

This was the guy who was going to buy my D3... then changed his mind and went for this "to good to be true" bargain..

and it turned out to be.

He's since got another very tidy D3 RRS gone

Horrendous.

Personally I would never buy from a private seller unless I knew them.

I would only ever buy "used approved", although I have only ever bought new.
