2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

TPMS advice please

Hi,

Fitted my winter tyres on 19's at the weekend (bought 2nd hand) and they don't have the transmitters in the valves to make the TPMS work. I get a solid orange warning light on the dashboard after 1 mile or so.

It's going to really wind me up for the next 4 months so I was thinking about my options..

1. Deal with it!
2. Can the TPMS be switched off temporarily by a dealer with the correct equipment
3. How much for 4 x TPMS wheel sensors? (I'm having the wheels refurbished so cost to fit is not relevant)

TPMS wheel sensors about £80 each fitted from main dealer (I had these put on mu OF Tigers)

I have never had a drop in pressure according to this system

To me the LR ones seem expensive rather than those being cheap.....they may even be the same!!

i can supply & fit 4 sensors & digital readout for £200.

Andy. Gone,,TDV8 arctic frost,black leather,colour coded handles,rear entertainment,sunroof.
1980 Rolls Royce,shadow 2 in white.
Gone 07/57 TDV8 santorino,black leather.chrome handle's/mirror's.
Gone 02/52 FFRR vogue.

Thanks mate. I have one of those gadgets on my race car and it's great but wouldn't want one in the RRS.

If the spare has a sensor fitted and transmits the system will assume there is a fault as it can't see the other four vehicle wheels. If spare and all wheels removed it should default to no TPMS ie winter mode and no alert.
It might be worth checking your spare to save cost and hassle.

Out of interest the TrailAir by Land Rover sensors retail at £22.26 eac ( inclusive VAT , Delivery and forum member discount)

If there are any RRS owners that tow this is a great system - might be worth a look ?

Thanks Alison.. I've managed to purchase 4 x sensors which will be fitted to my winter wheels when they get refurbished next week... so everything should be fine!

Agree that the trailair system is great btw!

good decision to fit sensors BTW - optimising tyre pressures saves you money on tyre wear and fuel economy not least the safety aspect. 1 in 3 cars have seriously under-inflated tyres !
