Fuel Burning Heater/ Pre-warmer question

I have the keyfob thingy to pre-heat the cabin, I turned it on and noticed a smell after a while when I was driving, am I supposed to turn it off again before starting the engine, how long before you get in the car should you activate it to get the car nicely defrosted on a winters morning?

thanks

Jonny,

I'll help you!

I find that 15 mins before I want to set off is enough to get the cabin as warm as I'd like it, unless there is a frost or in the height of winter where I'd probably give it 20 min or so to make sure the windows are properly defrosted.

The smell should lessen (although not go totally) the more you use it throughout the winter months. I guess the fumes have nowhere to go when the car isn't moving and perhaps hang around in the engine bay for a short while. I used to park nose-in to my garage out of habit as it is more protected from the elements that way, however reversing it back helps dissapate the FBH gasses.

James Thumbs Up

Yet to use mine in anger having only had it fitted early in the summer. I thought there was a timed cutoff if you use the remote plipper just like setting on the touch screen?
