Am I being too cynical in thinking the police are standing back doing absolutely nothing as houses and cars are being burned as big thank you to the Tories for decimating the force and the rest of the criminal justice system?
I'm watching it live on Sky now and just amazed that they are just standing around,stopping normal people going home in buses and cars whilst packs of feral kids just like hyenas do whatever they like
It's like Blackhawk Down so why aren't we sending troops in with suitable resources?
Not meant to be a criticism of the police more of an empathetic feeling if I was in their shoes would be doing exactly that myself.
My wife has been in the criminal justice system for almost a decade looking after the most vulnerable in society and just had her redundancy notice. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

seeing as the politicians do not support the police anymore ,and public order is fraught with cameras filming your every more ,the police are in an impossible postion,law is a joke ,until someone makes a stand against the thugs ,time for the leaders to do something or else civil war is coming down the road in a neighbourhood near you soon

On the plus side since the rioting started there has been £2 million worth of improvements to Tottenham

Perhaps if the CJS (in the context of corrections and adjudications) had a good baseline from the outset, the low lives we saw in action last night would have thought twice before carrying out their mob-handed actions The UK judicial system is utterly weak and outdated.

........irrespective of what govt is in power, the systems broken because the deterrents do not exist, it has nothing to do with the necessary cuts. The police as an example locally do not have the resource to patrol the villages - a spate of burglaries have manifested and the most recent being last night, but they do find a resource within traffic (motorcycle) to sit on his fat asse and utilise a speed gun this morning on my usual commute to raise some much needed Xmas fund resources Incredulous!

We all say our piece about the Police and the speed traps etc, but I now feel that it is impossible for them
to do their job now that the do-gooders have made it so that any one has a hand laid on them has a claim
for abuse of civil rights, kids at school can't be reprimanded as parents attack them the system is indeed broken from every angle, when the people in prisons have more rights then the victims, the prison food bill is double that of the NHS, WHAT NEXT.

We are slowly slipping to a third world standard where people think that standing together means to throw pertrol bombs and riot, loot.

If they would stand together for justified rights like fuel cuts and against taxes in a civilized manner then we might all benefit, that's my opinion however and am just voicing my opinion after seeing these low lives destroy yet more peoples lives for what they think is a laugh, I say send in the troops and announce a curfew everyone indoors or to shelters then release the law with kid gloves off..

Some good points there, specifically the fuel cuts and taxes. Beggars belief that we all take the viewpoint of "we can do nothing".........just where has the Dunkirk spirit gone.........oh yes, Blair and Co robbed us of most of it by making this country sooooooooooo PC. I think they've laid them all off that aren't overseas and would be afraid to do so in case someone said it was racially motivated then compensation claims would run into millions Quite right though, send in the army, issue a state of emergency when they are burning the homes and robbing decent people, scumbags.
