My TDV8 was in for a service and MOT yesterday and I had a new RRS for the day so I took the day off and hooned over to Harrogate and up the Dales with the junior Bradders.

I have always thought I'd be swapping for a new (ish) RRS next year but TBH I found the new one a bit too clinical compared to my V8.

Much quieter with a way smoother ride with a more luxurious feel to it, especially the interior which is light years ahead of my Lego interior. But the drop in performance, grunt and grin factor left me wanting and now I'm feeling all disappointed.

I realy didnt think there would be much in it between the two engines, but oh boy there is!

SWMBO thinks its all in my imagination. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Apart from your needs in becoming part of the group Imagination.....I didn't think there was much in it, having driven both cars...apart from the noise from the engine. I think the new interior, dynamics of the new car make up for all the good stuff of the V8 diesel....but just getting away from the Micky Mouse interior is enough.....

Nick, mate the heat is still playing tricks with your memory. The TDV8 is a great engine, period.

But as you say the new interior is soooooo much better. Ultimately its all about the balance and a good % of the time the difference in performance would probably not be relevant. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

My ethos is form over function......you could put a 4 cylinder in the new model and I'd still buy it! It has been known that men with small appendages tend to go for bigger engines!

It would be nice to see some figures for:-

A std 2.7
A mapped 2.7, both J E Engineering & BAS

A 3.0
A mapped 3.0

A TDV8

I have driven a J E Engineering £300 mapped 2.7 chasing a friend in a Std TDV8, it was not as quick I admit, however I managed to keep him in sight over a 20 mile run. Not as much in it as I thought. TDV8 does sound good though. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

I used to have the 2007 TdV8 and loved the performance, also purchased Tunit box for it too which just made it so much better. But I also agree with you about the interior, it has really passed its sell by date, so I have opted for the best of both worlds and just purchased 2010 TDV8 so I get the updated interior and still have the performance of the V8. Will be fitting the unit box as soon as take delivery  2010 Alaska white 3.6TDi v8, heated steering wheel, Ipod connection, Aribica extended leather, Digital TV, voice activation, privacy glass, Dynamic pack

Ive just driven a mapped 3.0l and MY GOOD GOD !!!!

My car is going to BAS soon for it doing. This was wicked. This would have beat the crap out of most things. Petes car was immense (even it was a disco) But my god it flew.

I loved the way that he threw the keys at me and said drive like youve stolen it !

Who can knock the engine. Just pay 500 and get it mapped.

Job done ! 

Foxy, you did drive it as if you had just stolen it too What a machine, if you have the new 3.0L Diesel engine and you feel there is something missing just get yourself upto petes place (bellautos) site sponser on here near york, i'm sure he will give you a test drive of his remapped motor and i'm sure you will be booking yours in for the same remap, thanks again pete for your time and assistance oh and your car keys, as foxy said above your motor is immense

I've seen a 4.4 TDV FFRR v's mapped 3.6 TDV8 v's standard 3.6 TDV8 report on here...

With the FF taking the honors by half a second or so to 60 over the mapped 3.6, and the standard 3.6 being another second slower again...

The performance advantages of the re-maps is common between the V8 and V6's (+40bhp & 90lbs) so I'd have though the mapped V6's are a second quicker to 60 than it's untuned brother as per the TDV8.


I was following one of TH White's 2011 TDV6's the other day and yes it was quick off the mark without all the soot associated with the TDV6 when it's booted... but still no match for the TDV8 when those torques are needed  RRS gone
