Land rovers in their various guises are great vehicles - supposedly designed for the international market but unfortunately use UK environment standard materials.

Unfortunately every LR I have owned has suffered in the hot Aussie sun and high levels of UV. My 2007 RRS is no different.

Even though I have a dash cover, the bits of my dash that are still exposed have cracked. Now today I noticed the top edge of the steering wheel airbag cover (the centre of the steering wheel between the horn buttons) is starting the lift and curl back. The sun is taking starting to take its toll.

So can anyone tell me if the centre of the steering wheel (the cover for the airbag) is integral with the airbag assembly or is a separate part.

It's a new air bag you need, had it happen on a 2008, however it was replaced under warranty.
 In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

LR don't always get it right even in the UK market regarding environmental glitches to their cars! My first Disco suffer from not one but two "smiling" dashboard toppers in my ownership. Bright sun shining on the dash top casused the ends to detach from the top of the dasj and curl upwards! It took two replacement dash toppers before it stayed down, and that was in Scottish weak sunshine so I dread to think how many Disco1's in the tropics fared. As it was a known issue in those days both toppers were replaced under warranty even though the car was out of it's then standard 12 months warranty 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Same thing happening to my airbag cover. I guess I will have to live with that. Regards etc.,

Thanks for those responses - that pic is exactly the position where mine is at, at the moment.

Yep - I had a Disco 1 with the curling dash top and it had a dash cover on it as well.

I haven't priced a new airbag as yet but I know it will be expensive - so I guess it will be sticky tape to hold it down.

Just did a few pricing checks - $650USD for the airbag - no thanks.

I did just watch a Youtube video about removing the airbag and steering wheel - seems straight forward with a home made tool. With the air bag removed I could heat the curly end with a hair dryer and when it is pliable hold it down in the correct position and the cool the unit in the fridge - maybe that will reduce the amount of curl.
