I had same problem on 06 Sport SC that I bought recently which has Alpine DVD player. Took it to ICE specialist in north London who removed from car and sent it off for repair. Due to be re-fitted tomorrow. total cost about £150. The replacement Alpine was about £700 as you've been quoted. I'd be a little sceptical about a maindealer simply saying that it needs replacing unless they've had it out and looked it over.

Had the new changer fitted today that was bought on ebay, it didn't work. The item was a Japan Region 2 changer NTSC and is available through Land Rover uk. Changed the screen setting from PAL to NTSC, still no luck. Can't think of any reason it shouldn't work as region 2 is region 2 no matter where it's from. Sending it back for full refund. I asked the dealer to put the old one back in for now and for some reason it's working perfectly, but for how long? Maybe all it needed was a reset and unplugging it did the trick, fingers crossed but I doubt it will stay working for long |

So an Alpine changer does not work? It has to be the land rover alpine changer? |
