Has anyone fitted a second/auxiliery battery under the bonnet of a V8 RR SC? I would like to run my Engal fridge from it etc.
Where did you mount it and what type of split charger did you use?

Ready made kit from Oz, pretty much plug 'n play. They do an additional kit fully wired to run an additional socket in the boot as well.

Not got it myself yet, but will have next year. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

Very good kit, easy to install, all bits included with very straightforward instructions

I've not got around to doing this yet but am making plans to do the work soon.
The advert suggests that the D3 and RRS already have a second battery tray location....where abouts would that be on a left hand drive car then because I can't see it anywhere.

Pics would be great but a breif description would be better than nothing!

Just remove rear plastic cover on opposite side to main battery location, looks identical but opposite side and still at rear of compartment

I found the space under the second plastic cover to be inadequate for housing a second battery (of any significant size to run a fridge etc) on the tdv8 RRS.....I am not sure how this differs on the SC but I assume you will find the same problem.

By relocating one of the filler bottles in front of the primary battery I was able to create sufficient space to position a 307 x 169w x 211h 90AH secondary battery supported on a custom made aluminium tray. The charge control unit was mounted in the space under the second plastic cover (which also includes the brake system hydraulics which are difficult to relocate)

The splitter used was a 3-way system (main, aux, trailer batteries) made by Rotronics in Aus.

I have since transferred this setup to my D4 which has similar spatial tolerances, although the height of the battery became a minor issue which was resolved by relieving the inside skin of the bonnet at the appropriate position.

I'll be using the same set-up as my Discovery.....a Piranah DBS180S as a dual battery managment and charging system.
I wonder if I can squeeze an Optima Yellow top in that space?

from my knowledge of what is available, a yellow top should fit into the space however, at 55 AH it will not run your fridge etc for very long. my10D4se3Ltdv6 current

Yellow or blue top fits, it is a deep re cycle battery, never had problems with running mine flat even with heavy usage
