When i set off in the RRS, usually first thing on a morning, for about five seconds the car sounds like a tank,
its not the engine, so what could it be?

Also my sisters MY09 2.7HSE needs new front brake pads, whats an approx dealer cost?

I think its the cooling fan, mine does it sometimes even though the engine is cold, it sounds like a jet engine going no where fast, nothing to worry about though, do a search on here how to change brake pads its not too difficult and might save a few shilling or try an independent for a cheaper quote than the stealers,

if you have a fuel burning heater [fbh] then thats coming on until the coolant is up to temperature..

Thanks for that, i couldn't think how to describe it but a jet engine is pretty close.

Viscous fan is making that noise, then it goes to sleep till needed.
