Three months warranty is back street garage material, not a main dealer imo.
Is a Stratstone warranty going to cover the best a faulty RRS could potentially throw at it?
I dont rate Strat's, didn't seem to want my business which is why i went elsewhere and got a far better deal (including side steps thrown in) Strat's wanted 700 quid!!

I'm probably going to get stones thrown at me... Embarassed

I'm more than likely going to complete the deal in the new year. The said dealer was "clearish" when I met him - he did say it would come with a 3 month warranty and that it was a stratstone approved car - rather than LR. It's further complicated that I need to sell my car (going back this week for a good price, could be better! Rolling Eyes ) and need a car ASAP.

I will however do a few things. I will continue to search online for another car until I have actually signed the paperwork (so far a deposit).
I will not accept the 700 additional cover for 9 months, I will probably by some warranty from Kam's Co...
I will inform LR that they are selling LR's that should fall inscope of the LR approved cars - nd clearly not.

The car itself is great! 22k miles for a 56 plate, sunroof, privacy and my first choice in colour (buckingham and alpaca).

Rolling Eyes

Hopefully I won't get that many stones... Looking forward to joining the crew and building a list of tasteful mods...!

Its very simple - if the car was advertised on the LR website as an Approved Used Landrover, you can demand the LR cover, of 12months for a car less than 5 years old and 6 months for over 5 years. see link.

http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/lr/approved...d-promise/

Otherwise it is a Trades Description violation and knobble tyem with Trading Standards since they are gainingn the benefits of the ad. claim without delivering on the LR promise.

Hey drdelrrs... could have a little problem... i don't remember seeing this car on the LR website (it could have been, just dont remember as have been on so many sites etc!) Rolling Eyes

I'll call LR and ask them if they had a car on there... if they do, I will challenge the offer... but at no point were they dishonest about it... It doesn;t bother me that much (i've even had sleepless nights!) as it's just a type of insurance that I may or may not use.. the price is reasonable by comparison against other RRS of similar age and use (even without the extended warranty)

If LR tell me that it was on the website, then I do think it's a fair challenge to make... as before I visited the dealer i did think it was a LR approved car... i wouldn't have gone if i thought it wsn't! Crying or Very sad Embarassed Rolling Eyes

There is a danger of making a "mountain of of a molehill" and a big issue the more its discusssed.

The chances are you'll have no issues; in slow time i'd take a look and see what you can find out as a 'peace of mind' thing.

Good luck and enjoy the motor.

My car threw up a suspension fault while it was been driven to the front of the dealership when i was collecting it so my chances of 'no issues' were blown out of the water on day one. Luckily though, i bought mine from a pucker LR dealer and they gave me a 60 plate Freelander HSE for a couple of days whilst mine was sorted.
RRS's are expensive and very complex cars so a good warranty should be a high priority imo.

You need either a LR warranty or deep pockets for a RRS particularly an early model.

I had the choice of a 3 year old FFRR or 6 month old RRS. I went for the sport purely because the warranty period was a lot longer. It actually turned out to be the right vehicle for me.

They are a brilliant vehicle though despite their faults. Allan
