Royle, is the X5 new? It doesn't look like the face lifted model to me but the pre mid life update model.

It's new to us, but not brand new out the wrapper. It's 2007 but really doesn't bother me. Pcking It up tonight at 4pm then going to see brother as he lives not far from the dealer.

Wise decision, the face lifted model is not as nice. There is a white one around here, the rear apron is body coloured as they now are, it looks very Halfords. Your's is much better looking in my opinion. I hope you enjoy it. Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HST Java Black

At least its got 20inch wheels and they certainly have a more upto date interior then the equivalent RRS Pre 2010 model. A wise choice for the money. Hope you enjoy it!

Scotland 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Atacama Sand

We had the opposite experience with our last X5.
We had a 2004 X5 diesel sport which we ran up to 84k mls in just over 3 years.
Other than brake pads and tyres, the only thing that ever failed was a brake light bulb - a truly brilliant car.
On that basis we bought a new model 57 plate X5 3.0 td SE in space grey, with 20" wheels and all the options.
Starting at 0 miles, it was back to the dealer within 200 miles to sort out the rear heating not working.
To save a long tale of unhappiness, it had 3 sets of front wheel bearings in 30k mls, several electrical problems, was marooned for a week in the dealer when they wiped the ECU controlling the electric handbrake, and loads of other grief. The rear heating never worked in the time we owned it.
Finally, having given up with Vardy in Edinburgh, and having no time for Eastern from past bad experience, we took it to Grassicks in Perth for the third set of wheel bearings. They were very good indeed, but having to travel 70 miles to reach a competent dealer is just a pain.
By this time we were totally fed up with the car (18 months and 35k miles) , so on the way home we went via Stratstone in Cupar, and ended up buying a RRS TDV8S - a year old and in Atacama Sand (!).
It has been a lot more reliable than the X5 was, and has now reached 54k mls without letting us down.
It is a much more pleasant car to our mind.
It has had a front diff replacement as it whined, and the usual suspension bushes etc., but all under warranty and done efficiently with equivalent loan cars provided - better than the BMW 116 we got from Vardy, on the odd occasion they could actually supply any car.
The dealership attitude to customers between the two makes is quite marked (from our experience).
Eastern have a bad arrogant attitude. Vardy is a big machine that doesn't give a damn about anything other than having your money - they keep you waiting ages, and either give you no information, or make it up as they go along.
Stratstone in Cupar are very pleasant, but not so clever after the purchase - they say at time of sale (knowing we live 60 miles away) that they are happy to collect and return the car for servicing etc. Reality is they will not when asked. However they are at least nice about it
Consequently we ended up at Pentland in Edinburgh.
Having heard rumours that they had no interest in vehicles they had not supplied I was a bit concerned.
Ours was going to them to sort the oil leak caused by Stratstone when they changed the front diff.
How wrong I was - almost new RRS loan car offered without asking - could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Been back for suspension bushes and servicing, and always the same attitude of helpfulness.
Without doubt they are one of the best dealerships (of any make) I have ever encountered.
I have a fleet of vans and trucks, and have owned a lot of cars, so have a pretty wide experience of dealerships.
Our household now has a FFRR TD6 Vogue as well as the RRS.
It would take something catastrophic to happen for us to ever go over the threshold of a BMW dealer again.
The X5 is undoubtedly a prettier car than a RRS, but for me that is as far as it goes.
If you get a good one, and never need to visit the dealers you are fine, but if not - well it won't be me again !

Evil or Very Mad

Its not second best its different......some on FULLFATRR.CO.UK have this attitude. I could have bought a new FFRR for the money of my new sport.

I didn't go for FFRR because:

a) i'm too young imo
b) company car tax is ridiculous
c) if I cant have the range rover ultimate i dont want any Laughing

I see it as adding variety to lifes' rich tapestry, and displaying impeccable taste - it is also our small contribution towards the mental stability of the man who came up with Atacama Sand. The derision he must face from all and sundry surely deserves a break.
As a bonus it easy to find in a car park amongst the myriad of Black and Silver ones ! Sheep
Honestly, it really is very nice ! Laughing
