iPad

I have a sudden urge to buy one.....

anyone got one? pros and cons?

Will the battery really last 10 hours?

If I use it for watching video will that be significantly reduced?

Which model should I get?

thanks

Depends what you want to use it for.

I got mine the day they came out 32mb wi-fi. They are great little things. I used to have a laptap for surfing the web on the sofa, not used it since I got the iPad. Screen is clear, "keyboard" easy to use.

10hrs battery life I would say is pretty much spot on. Took it on a trip to Kuwait last week, so used it Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs. When got home still had around 20% battery left. HSE TD6 (Java Black/Ivory)

Cons are Plants Vs Zombies and Flight Control - my iPad has usually been swiped by one of my daughters. Why they can't stick to the Wii or DS like they're supposed to.

Seriously, it's down to what you want to do with it. Typing long documents, fiddling with spreadsheets and printing stuff is a no-go (at present). Watching video, reading, browsing and dealing with emails are the main used. I also use mine to remotely (and securely) access my Mac across the 'net ('iTeleport') whilst my FatherOutlaw likes to proof pictures with his. It can get a little heavy to hold after a while, but by that time you'd have tired of a netbook, let alone a laptop.

If you get the 3G one, it makes for an humungous Sat. Nav.

Have a 64gb 3G, it's the biz!! Great for surfing but can't do the bbcode thingies from gallery. Battery is ace, still got 35% left on 2nd day, prob had several hours use so far! iPhone would have needed 3 charges plus in that time. And really fast plus great as a web surfer. Normally over ob D3 but that's knackered so over here on Dark Side! Ner Ner

We have had a 64g since they came out bought at a premium from the US. It lives in the kitchen dining area of the house. We use it for reading the paper, news, recipes, watching videos etc. Not yet a business tool (although I have done a couple of customer video demos on it) for spreadsheets etc but fine for email.

My wife loves it. She even web browses in bed on a Sunday morning catching up on news. It's probably the most used thing in our house. Get one, I cannot imagine not having one. Mine is wi fi only but that's fine because I wouldn't be allowed to take it away even if I wanted to, SWMBO wouldn't let me Twisted Evil

Rolling with laughter

I will but just don't want another phone contract......might get a PAYG deal as I'll 99% use it in Wifi area.....it will mostly stay in the lounge and then I'll take on holiday with videos downloaded onto it.

I take it it has real player or equivelant to play downloaded films etc?
