Suspension raising to extended mode?????????

When parking and pressing the access mode on the suspension it automatically raises to extended mode. Why? Please help....

What happens if you press the offroad height end of the switch - it is a rocker switch, one end to offroad and the other to access. It isn't a push push type switch 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I know. The access mode has worked fine since owning the car. Just yesterday and today the vehicle automatically raises into extended mode even though the access mode has been selected and the started lowering. Suddenly raising to extended mode. Very strange. All info welcome.

Well all. here goes.
2006 rrs. When select access it goes down, ...ping....... extended mode flashes up n up she goes.
Sreen says extended mode then remove obstruction.
LR had it 7 weeks this year and 3 weeks last year,replaced height sensors (3times) compressor(3 times),ecu (twice),valve block, balance valve
They said no faults,.. computer says no.
All hardware changed, so im told.????
wiring fault???
Well computer says no short cicuit n no open circuit,ie broken wires.
Im at a loss.
So LR said try a different dealer.
I looked under vehicle n its not even been steamed off, which i would have expected.
Im not without mechanical experience so hit me with your ideas.

All other suspension functions work correctly. If i was very critical i would say it sits a touch high at the rear and feels a little harsh on the back compared to how i remember the magic carpet.

Wonder if the sensors that sense something underneath the car and put it into extended mode are being tricked either by being faulty or perhaps covered in muck, not sure where or how they work, but if other modes are working ok then this might be cause.

I have exactly the same problem and had a rear height sensor diagnosed, replaced but still doing it

You can press into access mode, wait for extended mode on dash then press again and it overrides it - no mucky offroad on underside so its a mystery!

Hi all. Quick update about the problem. They struggled with it for a while and then ended up replacing the compressor. The problem has been removed. Hopefully it will stay that way. My only point I don't understand is that if the compressor had failed why would the car raise to extended mode every time I selected access mode. Strange!

Sounds like you just need the suspension calibrating. If normal height is too low at any one corner, when you go to access mode, it will hit the bump stops and shoot up to extended. m3 card

I have the same issue. I know for a fact my shock absorbers inside the air struts are bad (lots of rolling and swaying and noises at very low speeds when hitting bumps, not the anti roll bushes).

Now let me explain what happens:

The car doesn't lower at the same rate front and back (my front shocks are shot) so the car thinks it's hitting an obstacle underneath. You can spot this easily when you raise/lower the supspension.

For example, I left my RRS parked for a week now. The back has lowered (as it should be), the front is at normal height because the damaged shocks prevent it from lowering even after a week.

I think many more people have to take into account this posibility when having this problem. It's not always sensors or air suspension problems.
