Nick - I fly everywhere these days. If you are paying for yourself you can get some really cheap flights if you shop around from Flybe, Jet2, BA etc. If you are there and back in a day you can check in 30-40 mins before flying as long as you're not checking a bag. Its too easy not to. I live in Chester and I would never drive or catch a train to Newcastle.
I fly to Edinburgh once a month from Manchester and its 30 mins in the air then a £15 taxi fare each way to the office. WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award
