Hi there,
I signed up to this place a few years ago but never got round to buying an RRS - a certain Audi RS4 got me persuaded and I haven't stopped smiling since (for the last 3 years almost!).
Anyway, I think the time has come to start thinking about replacing the RS4 and I've gone back to pondering over the RRS. I must admit, the recent weather conditions have kind of made me consider the RRS more now (wouldn't consider any other 4x4) but I've always like the way it looks interior and exterior. Did test drive a 2.7 TDV6 but though it wasn't bad it didn't excite me at the time.
So anyway, if anyone would be kind enough to give me some pointers as I'm looking at trading the RS4 in for one but not sure which way to go. At the moment the TDV8 looks promising. I do want something thats a bit more cheaper to run, fuel wise and/or has a bigger tank at least! How much real world difference is there in economy between the 2.7 V6 and V8? Though I don't do a lot of mileage 6-7k a year average. I'd definitely want a HSE and would rather straight swap or get some cash back for my car (please the mrses), so am looking at up to about 35k budget I think. What kinda spec/mileage car could I expect for that much?
And finally, what sort of things do I need to look out for when test driving a used car? Are there any known issues/faults I need to be aware of when looking at one?
Thanks in advance...

Have you considered the new 3.0ltr TDv6. Won't be too many used ones around but you might pick up a dealer's demo car.
Tdv8 things to look out for - suspension rattles from worn front suspension bushes and "water hammer" from the ARM/DR hydraulics system. This also can be a problem with TDv6HSE's with the same system fitted as an option
2.7 and 3.0ltr TDv6 both seem to be suffering from Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve problems and 2.7's have had problems with turbos.
Thanks for the info. Would hate to see turbo issues as I've just spent quite a bit replacing blown turbo's on my other half's VW Golf! I guess suspension rattles would be easy to spot trying to shake the car a bit? I guess the best thing to do would be get an independent mechanic to give the car a once over (don't know what to look for in "water hammer"?).
I don't think I can get a new model RRS within my budget and don't have the will to splash extra cash towards one right now. Well looks like the TDV8 is the one to go for!

Hi Kman, I sold my RS4 avant 3 months ago and am now driving a TDV8. I'd say around town fuel ecconomy is pretty similar to the RS4, but I often see 30+ MPG when cruising at motorway sppeds in the TDV8, wheras I never seemed to manage to get anything above 25MPG out of the RS4. Also, much bigger fuel tank in the RRS so larger range.
Think the TDV8 is an awesome engine and really well suited to the car. If you are coming from an RS4, you're driving style will completely change, I tend to spend most of my time tootling around now, but there's still pleanty of poke when you need it for overtaking!! 57 plate TDV8, Java Black, Factory Tints, Sidesteps,
