Know what you mean Hugh. In years gone by I've seen me taking up the 3rd lane of the motorway in a loaded lorry at 56mph while all the cars are sitting creeping along the other 2 lanes at 15mph!

Mind you, a 44 tonne artic makes a lovely snow plough for burying those in the middle lane as it clears the snow out!

Well I am sat at Sutton Scotney services having driven from Manchester and there have been light flurries but nothing to speak of although cars going north have their fronts plastered with it I haven't encountered any.

Have spotted quite A few Bali RRs's but today's spot of trip was a Bali blue new shape Jag XJ pulling out of the Gaydon Esso Garage as I pulled in. The colour suits this superb car which in the flesh doesn't look much bigger than an XF - the rear lights are fantastic. Like it

Also spotted pulled over on verge on the A34 a Java/ Santorini RRS with the offside front tyre in shreds and the rim looked well knackered

Ha, well I got laughted at yesterday when I was getting ready to leave the hotel and one of my colleagues thought I was overdoing things carrying a shovel, sleeping bag, travel rugs and my small gas stove with some hotdrinks to make. Got a text this asking where I am "stuck" as he had to sleep in his car somewhere in deepest Kent! I am snug and warm in Hampshire at my usual B&B - bet he would be glad of at least the sleeping bag and hot drinks now! Just getting packed to head off to sunny John O' Groats. Shovel, tow strap, and shackles never leave the car. MT/R tyres have been put back on, not much snow here, just a dusting, but it has been -6 to -7 all week. Force 9 winds forecast for the crossing so I hope they tie the car down well!!!! Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Was watching it on the tv news this morning! Didn't think it looked that bad really! Never seen the M25 looking so quiet at this time of day!

Have to admit though, its funny watching the BBC and SKY news channels the majority of pictures are concentrated on the south of England even though the north east is supposed to be bad too!

4WD - that is the usual off road kit from the Defender except I left the winch and tow kit at home! I'm on the train up to London. The main roads all appear to be clear but there is plenty of the White stuff lying in the fields. How will the rest of the country survive if London and the South East get cut off from it.
