United States 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Buckingham Blue
Importing cars to Europe

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience importing new cars from the US into Europe or elsewhere using a car import firm? If so what was your experience like, did it go smooth, what were the issues.

Would you do it again....

Any feedback appreciated.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Carried a few onboard the ship but never done it myself but I remember a member here imported an AC Cobra a couple of years back. It's supposedly a very easy and simple thing to do Adrian. Some of the UK motoring magazines have done items on brining the latest Mustangs into the UK and they seem to have had no problems using an agent in Baltimore. The specialist shipping company for this is a group called Walenius Wilhelmsen who operate weekly car carrier services to Europe and the far east out of several ports on the East Coast and gulf ports of the USA. Takes about 10 days - two weeks to get the car from the USA to Europe, port to port

Depends on whethere you are talking a personel import or something commercial which would have a huge effect on the taxes paid on import.

All cars would have to be converted to EU regulations and get type approval before registration could happen, will try to remember name of company that does this in Bristol,

Poland 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red

I imported my RRS from the US. A friend of mine does imports from the US both new and second hand cars, so he has done it for me.

One thing you need to note with new cars. Some brands (such as BMW or Audi), because of a big price gap between US and Europe do not allow to purchase in the US brand new cars for export. Their excuse is that it is because of regional specs differece. As far as I know some brands do not even honour US guarantee in Europe.

Of course there are ways to go around it, but based on specific case (make and model of the car) you need to consider pros and cons.

if you have any specifc questions feel free to ask or PM me. My name: Patryk
