I have a post in the insurance thread... I know, however its becoming a nightmare to get insurance on my forthcoming SC. I am with NFU, they have now come back to me £1170 theft excess £1750 and MUST have Tracker!!! Shocking, tried Swiftcover, esure etc that some people said either value is too high or higher costs than NFU.....

Jesus thats a bit brutal!!! I know Ive only a V6 but im about a quarter of that for insurance!! I know Im a bit out of your way but I use a smallish broker up north from here and hes always been quite reasonable hence my staying with him for over 10 years now!! I can usually get 20-30 pounds a year cheaper using the screen scraper sights but the level of service theyve given me over the years is worth the extra!!

If you were paying £600ish for a TDV8. The quote given seems totally reasonable to me. Its a 62k+ brand new 5.0 supercharged car that is top of the list for getting nicked, and is a major leap up in performance. I think £1170 is ok. The theft excess is a bit much though. Never heard is such a high figure (my regular excess is £1200). Maybe kick up some fuss to get them to lower it if you get the tracker.

I was paying almost 3 times that sc premium on my tdv8 so maybe my opinion is a little biased .

Why do you bother about an extra grant for insurance on a car worth 62k+?
