Can anyone tell me if a car ordered,paid for and due for delivery in December can be registered in January without being penalised by the new VAT rate

As with any VAT related business, if you pay (all outstanding monies) in December 2009 the answer is YES  Smoke me a kipper: I'll be back for breakfast.

RRS HSE TDV6 gone after 15 months since new - will not be missed I'm afraid - bit of a gremlin in there somewhere - too many issues. Replaced with FFRR Vogue TDV8 - very nice - not as sporty (of course) but absolute luxury.

If it's deliver in Dec, it will be register in dec...Delivery means actual transfert to you hence registration...Delivery date is also the date you pay the full invoice... You can't get the car deliver to you and not register to you. If you delay it to January, then you will be hit by the new VAT. At least, that's how I see it from the info I got when I bought my 2010 one a couple of weeks back Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

You'd need to discuss with your dealer. We would be very reluctant to deliver an unregistered vehicle, however it is not uncommon the night before a plate change (March /Sept) for a customer to have their car the day before, lock it away securely in a garage, sign a disclaimer to say that they won't drive it until it's legal registration date.

In the case of the 0% APP or low rate PCP, the car would need to be paid for and registered before the end of the month.

Another point is that the dealer can tax it for a year and a week if it's not due until the end of Dec, that means you don't loose out on a month of road tax.

is the VAT increase definitely happening? I thought there was talk of it being delayed til April?
