United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zambezi Silver
Engine Reduced Power DTC codes P0160 P0161 C3200

S/C 4.2L petrol 60K miles

For a while now my car has been idling rough on cold morning starts until it reaches normal operating temperature (about 6 mins).

On a cold start (car been left overnight) this is what normally happens :- the engine starts fine, initial RPM about 1200, as soon as I select reverse (to reverse out of garage) idle drops to about 600 rpm and remains at 600 (even in N or P). The engine then starts to 'hunt' ie almost stall (but it doesn’t actually stall), body also vibrates quite a bit. I drive away and the rough idle continues until the engine reaches normal operating temperature. On reaching normal engine temperature the idle becomes smooth at about 650 rpm

This morning however the engine ‘hunting’ and body vibration was quite bad and after about 60 seconds of driving I received the Engine Reduced Power warning (and the engine did loose power), so I pulled over, plugged in my generic OBDII code reader and read the following error code P0160 and 2 pending errors P0161 and C3200. I cleared these faults started the engine and continued my journey (40 miles) no further errors.

The problem is I can’t seem to find any details on these errors i.e. generic code reader says manufacturer specific. Any ideas?

I have recently changed the plugs and air filter, but this didn’t seem to make any difference

Sad

Thanks shmoogle.

I have already had that IDS patch applied back in March 2009. Unfortunately for me it made no difference.

However just noticed that LTB00197 January 20th has been superseded by LTB00197v2 dated 9th September 2009. Requires IDS 118.5 with patch file 13.

My vehicle has not had that update applied, maybe this will fix it.

Very Happy
