2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Rimini Red
problem with gearbox ?

Hello,

I believe my Range Rover Sport has a problem with the gearbox or front/rear diff.

Problem started at around 50K. When I accelerate from a stop without pushing the accelerator too much around the 3rd or 4th gear (40-50 Mph) my car seems to stumble for a bit. I could describe it like the acceleration/transmission is rough.

If I accelerate faster there is no problem but I can notice that acceleration is not very smooth.

This only happenes maybe once every few days.

Can you tell me what the problem might be (I don't think it's the engine but I feel it's something underneath the car) ?

I believe it's not the gearbox anymore.

It only does this when the gas is close to empty, when it's completely full acceleration is very good with no problems. I believe it's something to do with sediment in the gas tank or in tank fuel pump.

You may find the water trap in the fuel system needs to be drained - do you buy mostly supermarket diesel and from the same branch? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I don't know where that is located on my TDV6 2.7.

What I did try today was a Duralube Fuel System / Injector Cleaner in my full fuel tank. It did seem to help the problem (almost cured). Will try it again after a few thousand miles, hopefully it will fix it completely.

If you can tell me where the water trap is located I will try that too.

Thx
