I have two TDV6 engines , one for 'her' indoor's motor (RRSport) and one in a Disco3 Commercial (company tractor) and was wondering if any one has used any of the sponsor solutions for a re-modelled chip for some horsepower changes

Once chipped an X5 diesel (early model 3.0D) and thrashed it to south of Spain and back. Got home for a standard service (having removed chip and wiring overlay harness) and BMW man said we had 'several' fuel leaks starting around injector assemblies Wow said I, what an earth could have caused that Me thinks the fuel pressure was so high from the chip that this was essentially not a good thing? An inherent problem with a poor man's remap? But you couldn't half tell when the chip was in place.

I am liking the BELL Automotive solution as it look slike you can back the thing off when going for a service (or basically having trouble even in an unrelated area). Particularly good at avoiding warranty arguments with stealer if the the mod is not present at the time?

I have a lot of engine knowledge but mainly inserted into warships and submarines and we are not allowed to chip them

Any thoughts please? Might try it on Disco3 first as it is a company vehicle which will get changed regularly anyway (high miler).

RRS HSE TDV6 gone after 15 months since new - will not be missed I'm afraid - bit of a gremlin in there somewhere - too many issues. Replaced with FFRR Vogue TDV8 - very nice - not as sporty (of course) but absolute luxury.

Mine was done by a small company up here and Im seriously impressed with the change in the car. Best fuel since was 37 mpg on A roads and 34-35 on motorways. Power is a lot better too. Pulling a tonne and a half of caravan 60-65 up both the long pulls of Crooklands and Shap on the M6 in top gear. A feat the BMW never managed. Returning between 22 and 25 towing depending on the terrain. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Range Rover Sport Santorini, privacy, dvd, towpack GONE!!!

The BAS remap is incredible!

The TDV6 still doesn't smoke at all but it is MUCH faster than before, it feels a lot better to drive and it is really nice to drive around town now! And as you already said: You can turn it back anytime which is great!

There is a vast difference between a "plug-in box" with an overlay loom (all these usually do is raise the rail pressure) and proper remaps, which is what our site sponsors offer.

The BAS system has a handheld tool which allows you to apply and remove a remap, it is not a plug-in box. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Not got roung to it yet. Anyone had any experience with this outfit and an RRS.
I know someone who strapped one onto an astra and swears by it.

As Martin said, the plugins are no subsitute for a proper remap and can be tuned specifically for your actual vehicle

All a Plugin does is to manually cause it to squirt more fuel into the engine. It doesn't change any other parimeters, unlike a remap.

Imho....I think you could do a lot better than a plugin. They're cheap for a reason Cheap now expensive and painfull later if you are unlucky. TDV6 - gone

Absolutely agree, a mate of mine had 3 new turbochargers in 40,000mls after buying such a plugin. And another problem about the plugin is, the dealer will almost everytime see if there is or was a plugin and then you do not have any warranty.
I would go for a propper remap with an interface, this is by far the best solution in my eyes and not at all expensive compared to what can go wrong with a bad chip (turbocharger, cylinder head, transmission, exhaust system, etc.). RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration
