Sat Nav not working

A few seconds after turning the sat nav on, the screen goes blank then the message: 'MAP DVD - Read Error' appears. This lasts for a few minutes before the sat nav map screen comes on only for a few seconds.
I've cleaned the sat nav dvd but still the same happens.
Any ideas ?

on some rare occasions the wires of the sat nav dvd reader can get caught on the track of the front passenger seat, just check its all plugged in and no lose wires Thumbs Up

Unfortunately, the DVD player is probably the culprit, mine has just failed after 83K miles and gave me that same error. Swapped it with a new DVD player and the same DVD and it's working just fine again. Interesting to note that this was a gradual deterioration, so for a few weeks before hand, the error message would appear and then clear by itself, until 1 day it appeared about 10 times and then the machine finally stopped working.

Other possible, but less obvious issues could be the wire chafing, I didn't have that but have seen pictures from Umberto showing this as the cause for the error message above.

Interestingly enough...since this is all integrated, when you remove the DVD nav player, your voice commands won't work to access the voice phone directory. PJPR
