Now I want a TDV8!

Have decided to take the plunge and now I'm look for a TDV8, low mileage, black, usual bells and whistles, pref an 06 or 07.

They seem to be gold dust, not sure if that is generally of just at the moment. Would prefer not to pay dealer forecourt price.

Cash waiting for right vehicle!

Any advice appreciated

Hello Dazza

Straight to the point I see, not even a hello or an introduction.

I don't know about the UK market but there are some sponsors on here who maybe able to help you. Having said that, you will pay dealer prices, there aren't many for sale privately. Same here in Oz.

Dazza3,

PM Kam100 as he can source you a TDV8 at a good price. He is really the best person who can help you. I can confirm that he sourced cars for me in the past and he is highly recommended.

Alternatively you can contact James at Charles Hurst at Park Royal - I have heard some good reports about them but I haven't met James personally!

Good luck with your search Thumbs Up

Thanks for pointing out that succinct isn't the way to go. Yes they do still have good schools in Kent. Even one of the few counties that still had grammar schools. And I attended one of them Wink

The desired car is actually for my partner. It's a massive jump for her (believe it or not she drives a BMW 1 series)...but it's the car she always wanted.

Have thought long and hard about the 4.2 SC, but driving 18k a year have decided the fuel would kill her. I've read many say 'if you need to ask about the fuel comp for a SC, then you can't afford it!'. Well she is so she can't! In fact she won't even drive one because she will fall in love with it.

Ditto what Chappylad says - it's not quite to easy to score a fantastic deal now as the market has levelled a bit over the past 3-6 months.

Details on the forum sponsors mentioned on the Sponsors Page - good luck! Thumbs Up

You can get a SC for less than a similar model diesel - the money you save can offset the reduced MPG so don't rule out a SC. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Thanks for your tip. but I'm not share the maths adds up?

Going by the book (which i accept may be less than reality), the TDV8 shoud get around 10mpg further on runs (her mileage is A roads, bit of motorway, virtually no urban).
If diesel does 27mpg and SC 17mpg

On 18K annual miles is 666 gallons diesel or 1058 gallons petrol.

Where I live, unleaded is about a pound a litre (4.50 a gallon) and diesel 105 a litre (4.73 a gallon)

so overall that works out on 18k annual milage of £4761 for SC or £3150 for diesel

That feels like a big difference.

Can anyone advise if servicing costs are different for petrol/diesel?

Theoretically it's not, but then pricing is different depending on which dealer you use anyway.

The second hand SC only wins out if you do low-ish mileage... I think we discussed the "breakeven" point is around 8-10k miles a year.
