hi all

going for a test drive tomorrow, just wanted to ask you guys if you had any tips or hints that would help me.

for example, testing for any suspension knocking etc

the RRS is up for 31k on a 2007 plate with around 23,000 miles, realistically how much of a discount should i expect, 1%, 10% or more etc

the car is at a dealers, not Land Rover, so im hoping its not as risky as buying private but any hints and tips would be appreciated.

If its a 2007, it will still have the balance of manufacturers warranty, so not too much of an issue...............as for the knocking noise, its hit and miss whether it will raise its ugly head on the test drive.

Others have had the non-DR knocking relating to ball joints which is totally a different animal, you can test for this by turning the wheel quickly at low speed - this noise CAN be fixed. Sounds like a clonking

As for the ARC knocking - unlikely, but if you know of a longish piece of rough ground on the test run, take the car down it and wait for the noise to manifest, it will sound like you have run over a plumber and he is trying to get your attention by banging your roll bars with a hefty spanner No fix.

Two differing noises, two differing outcomes - just remember before parting with your hard earned cash - only one can be fixed.

its a TDV6 HSE 2007, the test drive won't be today, was looking forward to it, the dealer has the car advertised but has not actually taken delivery of the car yet, its still down south/London, he should have it by the end of the week.

someone else has first refusal on it so i might not be able to buy it anyway

i dont think he will come down to 28.5k from 31k, even though its got higher miles than yours, its got 23,000.

he told me that someone else has already got first refusal on it but that could just be bull to push me into not trying to ask for a lower price and to pay the full 31k

i dont know how to attach images but this photo looks a lot like the RRS that im interested in, it has sidesteps, privacy glass, phone prep, HST front grill and the exact same 22" alloys, the only difference is that its black not silver.
