michelin tyres

Have done a search but really could do with an opinion on the Michelin 275/40r tyres as i need a new set soon. As i have only recently bought the car its a little a bit tricky what to do for the best just replace like for like.

Are they any good....how long do they last...

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I'm running Pirelli's on my TDv8 and they are wearing very well - 6mm remaining after 16500miles , I had factory issue Continentals on my TDv6SE and they were hardly worn at 22000 miles when I sold the car, despite having had a little bit of offroad use as well as normal day to day use. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'm still on the originals from the factory! BUT in October 2007 I paid £176 a piece for 4 Pirelli Scorpion Snow and Ice 255/50V19's for winter use. I would suggest Googling them and seeing what is available online. There is also a company that some forum members use - A.J Tyres or something. Very Annoyed recommends them usually.
Also take a look over on the sister website for Disco3's as they have a section just for tyres and wheels and you may get some price ideas from there.
Which version of the RRS do you have? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Not that it's a lot of help, I paid £170 for one BF Goodrich MTR T/A 265/75R16 for my Defender on Friday.............
all because I have a 1" long slash on the inside sidewall of rear a tyre that has only done 2000 miles and so failed it's MOT.............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Laughable, but Hankooks have served me proud on the rears for some 17k miles now and seem pretty much unworn Thumbs Up Shocked

Saying that, one has just gone due to an alloy being out of circumference (rear) which is being fixed this week.

Michelin and Pirelli IMO are overpriced and do not offer good value for money, whatever the counter arguments offer. Basically £250-350 per corner, dependant on where you shop versus £120-175 for the Hankooks.

I genuinely feel the {inferior} brand feels better on the car. Released moths and wear prove that Thumbs Up L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

I now have Michelin Diamara 20's on the front with racing slicks ( Embarassed Confused ) contis on the back.

The Michelin definitely wear much slower than the Contis and I have no complaint with them Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

One thing not to buy are the apparently "great value" Chinese tyres that are being offered around - Autocar tested several Chinese brands against (I think) Continentals recently and while the Chinese tyres were a lot cheaper they were far inferior for grip in both the wet and the dry and braking distances in one case was something like 3 times the distance achieved with the Conti's Shocked The tests were carried out using the same last generation Golf GTi for each brand of tyre, so it wasn't different tyres on different cars 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

But if you can get budget tyres that are also good at doing a job, no reason why you shouldn't buy them.... Very Happy
