Installing Roof Rails

I want to put the roof rails on my new RRS - part number VUB502130

Question is, the three holes in the running stripes are precut, how do you remove the covers? I have tries with a little force and they don't budge. Any tips or tricks please. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

That was some funny advice...imagine what it will look like then with a white expedition rack!

Very Happy Very Happy

Seriously though...back to the original question, assuming that the aluminum strips with the cross hairs on them is what you are trying to remove, they do pop off, they have clips every so often along the length of the strip, gently pry up starting at either the front or back of the car, and slowly and gently nudge upwards so you don't bend the aluminum. The screws to anchor the roof rails should be right under those cross hairs.

If you need any help...be glad to pop over on the next BA flight...1st class ticket would be appreciated! Very Happy PJPR

PJPR01 - thanks, I was hoping that you could just remove the hole covers without taking the whole rail off. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Is there perhaps a small rubber plug right where the cross hairs are on the new model, or just the metal strip? If only a metal strip, then I would recommend taking off the aluminum strips for drilling that hole out.

OK sorted - FYI the plastic covers plug into the bolt hole for the fixing bolt. These plastic plugs are very very difficult to remove and you will damage the plugs. All sorted now. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
