Is heated windscreen covered under warranty?

A few bars in my heated windscreen have stopped working (right infront of the steering wheel) my RR has just turned 3 but I have taken the extended full warrenty. I was wondering if the screen elements are covered under the warranty? ie could I get a new screen as its a bit annoying in these cold mornings.. many thanks
Ronnie

Any stone chips or hits that could be blamed for the failure ?

Tough one.
Extended warranty says that glass is not covered.

That said, mine was replaced under an extended warranty though it was 5 days and 3 years old.

Call your dealer and request that the screen is replaced.

I had my heated front screen changed just before Christmas. My motor is still under three years old so is still covered by the standard manufacturers warranty.

Take it back to your dealer. If you don't ask you, you don't get.

The dealer will inspect the screen for any signs of damage and then request warranty repair approval from Land Rover UK before carrying out the repair. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. If its still under warranty, can't you just use a hammer and then report that it was a flying stone or something? Wink Malaysia Boleh!

If the screen is chipped or damaged in anyway the dealer will not carry out the repair under warranty. They will advise you to claim for a broken screen on your car insurance. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. And in fairness most policies cater for "free" replacement without incurring the excess - I had to do this on my 535d. The nice man at Autoglass did it for me Thumbs Up

Autoglass were not keen to replace my front screen when I got a chip in it last year. They said that because the car was less than a year old they didn't want to cause any damage or risk water leaks (pretty feeble excuses) they also said that with modern bonded in screens these form part of the strength of the body construction and that replacing the screen unnecessarily would weaken the car a bit................................. ie they didn't want the job! They repaired the chip instead, even though they had got me a screen in especially. So if you can live without 2-3 lines of heater element it might be better to leave it and use some deicer spray on frosty mornings instead! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Over here we have a seperate windscreen insurance. You pay a nominal sum for a year.
When there are chips etc. we just hammer the glass and make a claim. They will pay and this does not affect your NCB or anything else. Only your windscreen insurance is lapsed and you have to reinsure the new windscreen.

The undertone there is that if you must replace the screen (i.e. necessarily) then it wouldn't weaken the car a bit. i.e. Autoglass are talking nonsense! Shocked

I think you're right Tim - they simply didn't want to do it.

A few years ago I had a screen replaced in my Freelander by Autoglass, they caused quite a lot of paint damage whilst cutting out the old screen.

I complained to their head office about the poor workmanship, they admitted liability and offered to get the vehicle repaired. I refused and said I would take the vehicle to a Land Rover Body Repair Shop to ensure everything was repaired correctly this time.

When my Freelander went into the Body Shop tey called Autoglass to cut out the screen. Confused Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

I think a lot of dealerships use Autoglass to do windscreen work... like they often use someone like Wicked Wheels to come in and do wheel refurbs if you ask them etc. Thumbs Up

Actually Tim they are right. My RRS had a screen replaced and they damaged a filter box when replacing it, this caused a leak that resulted in a soaking wet front passenger footwell. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
