Chaps, I dont have a RRS yet but my current car needs a clean and quite frankly I do an ok job but how on earth do you get that clean and showroom polish? is it a technique or is it just the type of shampoo and polish?
I used MER before as showrooms swear by it (so the advert said...........) and it was ok but not the DEEP shine I crave.

polishing gives the car a smoother finish, but a wax protects and gives the car the glossy wet look, helps keep it cleaner as the water beads and runs off.

My advice is a good wash technique aswell

2 buckets, one to have shampoo, one with clean water to rinse the wool washmit prior to putting it in the shampoo bucket, that way your washing with clean grit free water. drying the car with a micro fibre drying towel instead of a chamois leather will help keep swirl marks down too.

the secret is hard graft

there is no quick miracle product

paint needs to be prepped to remove all defects and contamination first

once you have the paint surface as defect free as possible (or as you want) then protective products should be applied using the correct methods and products as to not reintroduce swirls etc

The end result is only as good as the prep

i can apply sealant to an RRS in 15 mins , thats the easy part

Time and effort taken using the right tools and products and using correct technique to prep will pay massive dividends when last stage products are applied

buying silver helps too, black cars show every swirl and bit of muck

Meguiars make some good products

but some are not so good

The only real way you will find out is to try them yourself

one mans choice is another mans poison

Ive shown cars for years and i have thousands of pounds of products thrown at the back of garage which were reported to be the etc

you find your own way

The cloths you use make a big big difference to how effectively you do the job and how much damage you reintroduce to the paint surface

use nothing but good quality microfibre to wash , dry ,apply and take off

and tho some will tell you they get their microfibre from wilkinsons for 49p etc etc bear this in mind

its not all the same just like engine oil isnt

its all oil but the quality differs and just because there is a big glossy name on the packet doesnt make it good

I nipped into Halfords in Chester yesterday as I was passing by and they now stock a lot of the Meguiars stuff including clay bars and the three step products.
