Poor ADSL Broadband? (in the UK)

Check this out...

My connection speed rose by 1.5MB over a 7 day period and has stayed there.
- Very cool....

Basically, find the master socket. Cut the orange cable. Voila!
- You only really need to do this if you are connecting at maybe less then 5MB sync speed... 2022 P440e AB

Well, received what I thought was the usual junk enclosed in my CTYA phonebill last week, until I read it.

Apparantly, from 1st December our broadband will be doubled from 2Mb to 4Mb, AND our monthly cost will be coming down by approx. €30 per month.

From 1st of December, our monthly bill should go down to a mere GBP320 per month...

Note that it can take a week for your sync profile to improve.
- The reason this works is that the bell wire causes intereference with the broadband signal. So cutting it, improves the connection.

But it takes BT's equipment a while to catch up.

Check your router for your sync speeds. If you are near 7 or 8MB, i wouldn't bother.
- Below 4 MB for sure.

But you may have crap cable outside the house or be very far from an exchange.
- But, its worth a go. 2022 P440e AB

i'm on 3.5 - 4mb with BT, looked for the bell wire after my brother told me about this a few months back, and mine isn't connected.

Kept pondering on damaging Whistle the cable between the house and the telegraph pole, but then knowing BT i have to pay for the connection and be without a telephone etc for weeks

I think been 3 miles from the exchange is the problem
