Hi all,

When driving above 30/40 Mph a very low ''rumbling''( something like rrrhhhh) sound can be heard from the engine bay, my feeling is that it comes from the lower part, as soon as I release the gas pedal.

That sound stops as soon as the car speed goes below 30 . As I speed up again the sound vanish.

anyone has experienced this problem?

Come on, you RRS wizards. No one has experienced the same problem? or maybe my explanation in English is unclear?

Thanks but it's a mechanical noise no doubt about that

It could the reasonably well reported "transmission noise", which often results in the transfer case being replaced. If you search for "tranmission noise" - you can read all about it

Yep, unfortunate.... but at least the car is still under warranty

Forget about a LR dealer in France having ANYONE in the technical dpt. speaking or even understanding English.

on my FL2 i have been getting a noice, that sounds like what your describing when the aircon is on

I found it disapears if i turn the aircon on to econ mode (turning if off) so it maybe a noisy roller or something

If that's the case, I don't then understand why the sound is not ALWAYS there with the aircon on
But you're actually right, it might sound like a faulty compressor.
let see what my (very bright, very good and very expensive) dealer shall diagnose tomorrow

I am extremely depressed since I just found out that I was a flaming idiot!!

I'm just coming back from my dealer who took the car for a test drive, his comments when he came back were:

''No noise whatsoever, everything its just fine. Since its your first diesel engine you're still not used to some specific noises and rumbles made by these engines''

all this said with a nice grinning face......


I sure hope that I AM the idiot and NOT him!!!

When I purchased my 1st Land Rover (a Disco1 V8iES) the last thing the salesman told me as I was about to drive off the site was "Land Rovers are unlike any other car, they make noises you will never hear on any other car so unless it squeaks continuously or gets hot never mind about them" Seems to have worked very well in the last 16 years of owning Land Rovers. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
