Will - please dont take this the wrong way. however in your case then surely you cant complain about the price of fuel? I hope you understand my point by this comment - I am guilty of moaning about the price of fuel and then still drive around at 80mph knowing my mpg is awful compared to driing at 70mph

On the contrary Kaine, I can and DO reguarly complain about the cost of fuel, my basis is that we are pure and simply ripped off. If I saw benefit to the whole fuel bonanza that this and previous govt's impose, then I would put up and shut up..............unfortunately, all I see if waste, waste and more waste with no other viable transport alternative......................

I can however see your point and if it worried me as such I would slow down........as it is, I simply charge more to my customer making the additional drink problem null and void. Thumbs Up

WRT the chavs and chavettes......they must be feeling the pinch already, they have to be..........you can tell them a mile off....they are the ones in the queue with a fiver in their hands who proudly state the pump number Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

snap - day rates have already gone up to customers.

Thanks for your reply - I like to hear the arguments (hence my original post)

Personally I find it quite amazing how EVERYONE is complaining about the price of fuel, however still the vast majority haven't bothered slowing down to reduce the impact. I've slowed down recently and increased my tank range by easily 10%
- did Stoke to Cheltenham on Thursday in my wifes Cooper (wife stole the Treg) and managed 51.5mpg for the round trip (stuck at 70mh on the M6,M5) - normally get low 40's out of it but with some true self control managed to get 20% increase in the mpg - it wont last as I like driving the Cooper hard, however it was an interesting exercise

Haven;t tried out the RS out yet sticking to 70 as opposed to 80-85, but the old Disco TD5 only made about 1mpg difference, but then again the RS is doing on average about 2-3mpg better than the disco, both urban and on highways, so I have already gained 8-10 percent saving.

Sticking to 56mph did see this rise more though, but if I wanted to be a trucker I'd of bought a truck.

lespes - only getting a 1mpg improvement between 80/85mpg and 70mpg means something was wrong with your Disco2

I hope you can see my point here - its not that everyone should slow down - its more the fact that almost everyone is complaining about the fuel price and still speeding. I completely accept lorry drivers complaints, however am starting to ignore most car drivers complaints

If my disco 2 is wrong then I don't want to fix it Confused

Oil is finite, so what if we travel a few thousand miles further, it still all ends up in the atmostphere.

Perhaps we should consider why we speed in the first place, we have always known more speed means less mpg, so why would more cost be an issue now, when it has always been an issue.

Isn't there also an issue here of enjoyment - you ought to be able to enjoy driving how you wish without having to age 40 years to satisfy the treasury? Any justified costs are accepted by the sensible majority aren't they? We are already taxed at source and at the point of enjoyment to the hilt are we not in almost every area...

Confused
