Battery Charging through lighter socket?

Says it all really.

As the car is garaged now for most of the time, whilst I use the motorbike, can you use the lighter socket for charging / topping up the battery on the RR Sport?

If not, can the battery be kept topped up any other way without disconnecting it?

Fit something from Accumate.

You won't be able to charge via the cigar lighter as the current is cut when the ignition is off.

There is an accessory that is a semi permanent fit. It involves having a connection to the lugs of the battery and a cable running under and then out of the bonnet to the charger. Benefit of that is that it is a simple disconnection when you want to drive off and the car alarm remains armed at all times.

I've used one constantly for a couple of years on a merc. Does the trick perfectly. 2022 P440e AB

I use one of those for the bike during the winter or now that there is a bit more sun, a solar charger, I have a cigarette socket connected directly to the battery so I can just plug in when I put the bike in the garage. When I wasnt using the RRS for a while I used the solar charger on it too but it wont charge a completely flat battery like the Accumate will. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Thanks for that.

I've got the charger so just need a socket thingy for the battery now.

I tried using the socket in the car but, as you say, it doesn't work doing it that way.

Cheers

Thumbs Up
