Wales 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Java Black
Help with some minor mods

I'm looking for some advice & comments on some minor mods I'm thinking of doing. I realise everyone's tastes and opinions are different, but I'd welcome constructive feedback, (or even complete mockery - I'm thick skinned).

Ok it's a standard 4.4 V8 HSE in Java black. (LR did a pretty good job with the standard vehicle eh?)

I've just put on 2008 19" V spoke wheels with Goodyear F1 tyres (which I like). Got the black centre caps.
I've got Tasmod sills (which are a must).
I'm having some custom exhaust work done next time I'm in the UK - quad oval tailpipes.
Thanks to Nick, I'll have the black side repeaters fitted soon & get rid of the orange ones.
I'm getting black badges front and back.

New stuff:
I like the HST grill, and I'm thinking either that or a colour coded supercharged grill.
Colour coded side vents.
I've seen a couple of pics of black RRSs with black door handles and I quite like it, but I'm afraid to spray them in case it looks naff in the flesh!!!! I don't like chrome or stainless handles.
I'd like to black out the windows, but I'd only do it if I can do the fronts as well, and since anything more than a mild tint on the front is illegal, I'm staying clear for now. I did it to my MINI and BMW refused to service it!!
Anyone done their fronts beyond the legal limit?

I don't think I need anything more than that for now. It's sort of "STEALTH" rather than "BLING"

Anyone got any opinions - done the door handles? - HST grill without the rest of the kit? - any other suggestions??
Cool
Thanks

Aston Martin DB9 Tungsten Silver

Well be warned, those three little letters… H S T can evoke huge & diverse reactions around here Whistle

I have a HST grille, which a mate of mine is going to colour code in java, & while I wouldn’t put the full kit on, I do think the grille, on it’s own, colour coded will look good.

There’s an awful lot of SC grilles going around & even though there's very few colour coded around here, I’d like to have something a little different.

I wasn’t going to post any pictures of the HST grille, until it was colour coded, but here’s a pic of it on, one day I just tried it out to see what it would be like……..

……..& for comparison, here’s the colour coded SC Grille……..

I really do think though that the HST grille, will look much better when colour coded. As I say, a mate of mine, who used to own a body shop, is going to CC it for me like he did the SC grille. Just have to wait for him to get around to it & as it's a favour, I don't want to push him.

So when I have it back & fitted I’ll be sure to post the pic.

Hey guys, I've read a lot of members with "Tasmod Sills". Thers is no mention of these on the net, only refers to members posts in search engines. Are these the same as my sills, (standard s/c ones), or am I being dense.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Oilman, I too wanted a 'stealth' rather than 'bling' look and thought the grey on a black car didn't suit.

I didn't want to colour code my handles to avoid risk of the paintwork flaking as it is a part of the car which is heavily used. I ended up changing all my handles to the discovery ones which are matt black and painted the lower tailgate trim to match. I think it suits the car well, it looks like it came out of the factory like that and is very subtle - pictures are in my gallery. 2006 '56 RRS TDV6 HSE, Java Black, Alpaca Interior, PTI, Sidesteps, 22" Stormers wrapped in 285/35/22 Toyo Proxes, Java Framed SC Grille, Java/Zambezi Side Vents, Matt Black LR3 Door Handles, Matt Black Lower Tailgate Trim, Colour coded lower body trims, Semi Smoked Taillights, Chrome Mirrors and Fog Light Bezels, Reflex Exhaust Back, Full Pentagon AutoGlass Privacy, Tasmod Sills, Clear Side Repeaters, pics in gallery!

I agree DDX, as our cars are very similar in appearance. Including the rear lights. I had my handles, front, middle and rear pillars done, lower sills front and back - and it all looks good - and not like an aftermarket job. It's all down to the type of bodyshop you use I guess. But the handles look like original ones. Hope to see you at London meet to compare, almost twins in appearance other than the fog light surrounds at the front. Mate what pressure do you put in your 22'' 's?? Thumbs Up

“Tasmod Sills” refer to a set of stainless steel sill plates created by a member on here, who’s handle was “Tasmod” & used to sell the sill plates on eBay.

He has now opened a business called “D-Techperformance” specialising in all sorts of mods, alloy wheels & performance parts for many makes of cars, including the Range Rover Sport & now goes under the username “D-Tech”

D-Tech are now site sponsors & their website can be found at……..

www.d-techperformance.co.uk.

A direct link to the sill plates for the RRS can be found Here

Also have a look at this thread in the “Maintenance & Modifications" section of the forum.

For even more research, Here’s an old thread from way back in 2006, when I was thinking of buying my first set of sill plates & was asking about Tasmod Sills versus the Land Rover ones.

I can tell you from personal experience that the sills plates are an almost "must have" for a Range Rover Sport & that the guys at D-Tech are a pleasure to deal with Thumbs Up

Failing that they do sometimes pop up on eBay.

I got mine from a fellow member on here Thumbs Up

FYI the part number for the HST grill is DHB500440LEP although it would appear from my research that a LR Dealer can’t / won’t, supply you with one unless you can provide the chassis number of a RRS fitted with the full HST kit.

When my dealer tried to order it, it came back flagged as “Restricted Sale” which made me all the more determined to get one Twisted Evil

Thanks guys for the feedback and photos. It's a great help to see the ideas put into practice by others before you apply them yourself. Thumbs Up
Like most here, I'm not keen on the full HST thing, but I do like the grill, so I'm going to go with the cc HST grill. Thanks for the photos Rupert - looks good and works well with the HSE front bumper.
I def like the black door handles and it's interesting to use the D3 black handles - thanks for that info DDX.
Thanks again.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Nick and Rupert - yep no dealer will sell you an HST grille without a VIN as LR supposedly only sell complete kits and not bits of them..................

Nick - I thought fitting them was the same as fitting the S/C grille to other versions, replace the plastic clips of the old one and remove it, then snap the new grille into place.... even one as cack handed as me can manage that!

Love the colour coded number plate Rupert - the last bit of "sleath"! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yeah but isn't it silly then that the HST side vents can be ordered off the accessories catalogue Rolling Eyes
