Picked the car up this morning after having the head gaskets, one of the cats, timing chain, timing chain guides and supercharger nose all replaced. It originally went in for a head gasket and cat rep ...

IID tools are worth buying for sure. Yep it's a few hundred quid but it saves you paying a garage for a diagnostic whenever something is flagged. I used my IID tool to email me the faults I was gettin ...

Good point Tim - I don't really challenge mine off road (apart from when we go camping), but the roads in West Oxfordshire are so bad it's basically off-roading whenever I leave the house at this poin ...

Probably right about the 2005 Porsche looking more modern, but the RRS IMO is a nicer place to sit. You just can't beat the arm rests and seats. I had the old interior for over a year and honestly pre ...

I have never owned a Cayenne but I've driven one. Long time ago now. The interiors are crap IMO, and still are even in the £18-24k range when I was looking around before buying my 5.0 SC. RRS wins th ...

They said definitely the gasket needs doing and they'd let me know if anything else does. They hadn't finished the full inspection yet.

Gasket job being done and picking car up late next week. Eye watering bill. Going to see how the cat is after the gasket fix before deciding on when to replace it. Mechanic reckons it'll run just fine ...

Car is in being looked at right now. Seems one of the cats is potentially damaged maybe by coolant in the exhaust, but yet to be seen. They found a water pump gasket and bolt in the under tray as well ...

Thanks all. I'm not comfortable bypassing them by myself, but I'm awaiting a call back from a garage nearby who have a good rep and do lots of LR troubleshooting so I think I'll get them to have a loo ...

Fair play - got it just in time then!

Not much vapour today but it's a warm day. Slightly more coming out of the drivers side exhaust pipe.

Yeah there's more vapour from the left side I think. I'll check when I take it out in a few mins. One side definitely seems worse than the other. Not sure if that points to either EGR or HG though. Is ...

Definitely the best colour, my only regret is getting a black 5.0 rather than waiting for a blue! The fuel consumption is a bit of a joke with the 5.0 but unless you do long commutes every day it's wo ...

Ah interesting. I double checked under the oil cap for sludge tonight and there wasn't any, also no loss of power. Was the EGR cooler a big job?

Sorry forgot to add that I don't know if they did a sniff test. Maybe I should see if a garage can do one for me. The ballpark figure I got for the gasket job was eye watering so I'd like to shop arou ...
