i assume you are using the genuine landrover connector which plugs in under the lid on top of the fridge flap. i use this on mine and have no problem connecting a ipod classic or the newer itouch.

I was advised by a LAndrover approved Indie to do exactly that .... give it a short while before hurtling off up the road and before switching off just to allow the turbo's to stay lubricated.
