The answer depends on how much modification you're prepared to do, and whether you're talking about a pre-2010 car or 2010/11.

For a pre-2010 with no mods, widest tyre (if you're using it offroad) ...

You can purchase 18" rims (from me) for the 3.0 ltr and then fit Cooper ATR 265/60R18's - they are my daily drive tyre.
