Thanks for that. Did you use the same approach (cutting into the sheath of the violet wire also also clipping the new wire under the clamp of the courtesy light bulb holder) ?

I tried this on my last RRS (55 plate) no joy ...... 
Did you manage to reset the indicator using another method or did you have to visit the dealership ?
