It's still happening with the latest models, a friends Disco 5 engine blew up & it took him 3 weeks to get LR to agree to buy the car back from him, the car had only done 10,000 miles !  |

Sticky boot rubbers, put some silicon or vaseline on the rubbers all round and it will stop the friction that is telling the boot not to open.
