Apparantly (as the LR Assist Guy suspected) the Parking Brake Shoes have "seperated" from their mountings and are floating around inside their drum - I mean WTF This is Soooo Dangerous it's just not funny!
What would have happened if they had decided to fail as I was doing Errrr 60mph along the road - I suspect it wouldn't be pretty!! The car should be ready later today so I'll be asking the Service Manager about the safety issue's this raises. But, Don't think I'll bother engaging the EPB anymore.

For those that asked, the loaner I got was a Java Disco SE, not bad, but definately a bit more agricultural than the RRS and definately not as good to drive. The Enterprise depot in Springkerse in Stirling always has one or two examples of each model on it's forecourt.................. when I asked about renting one for the day they told me they were not for general rental, so does this mean that Enterprise depots have to stock a selection of Landies just for Land Rover Assist use?

The Enterprise agreement is actually with Mondial, who run LRA and any number of other mfr assistance schemes, so I expect the cost to Mondial is actually quite affordable given the amount of cars they must be renting.
