ChrisP it's a very long cold swim from Dumfries to Stornoway!
Stornoway is a town on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides and is actually a very nice place. I've visited a lot worse places on this earth! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Let's put it this way Chris - you might spoil the interior if you tried it, the door seals aren't THAT good! It might be a bloody good 4x4 but it was never intended to wade in water quite as deep as that! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Well just got back from a three day 1100 mile run in.
Started off in Derbyshire crack of dawn Monday morning, down to The New Forest, back up to Manchester and then onto Kendal arriving at about 8.00pm.
Leave Kendal at lunchtime and decide when we get to Dumfries to take the scenic route up to Ayr,great road not a camera or bizzi insight.Arrive in Kilmarnock at about 5.00pm.
Quick job early today in Kilmarnock and then head off home just before lunchtime,M6 around Manchester sounds really bad so decide to come off at Penrith over to Scotch Corner and down the A1 and arrive back home at 5.30.
Filled up 3 times and arrived back home with about 1/4 tank left, mpg gradually increased during the trip and today ended up with an average of just over 33mpg which is only just marginally worse then the MB E280 cdi I've just traded in.
This really is the most amazing car I just love it,we gradually come to terms with the sat nav but find we still need the 710 Tom Tom as well for the camera warnings, best solution seems to be leave the LR system on helicopter view zoomed out with close detail from Tom Tom.
Overall it's just the best car I've ever had and just can't wait for the the next trip down to Bristol and Somerset next week.
Cheers,
Chris MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Ahhhhhh, but wait until you try the same trip in a TDv8! I regularly do the Stirling to New Forest run and it was a very comfy and pleasant relaxing drive in the FFRR being wafted along, better in the RRS Tdv6 which was a bit more of a drivers car and just fantastic in the RRS TDv8 and the 2-3mph more fuel consumption of the Tdv8 is more than made up for by the driving pleasure of just being able to boot it and fly if the need is there! And to hear that burrbly exhaust resonance when you do boot it is highly addictive! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
